Only Sophisticate’s Black Hair has the scoop on up-and-coming R&B star Antoine Dunn! Here, the Cleveland native tells us all about his debut CD, Truth of the Matter (Elite Music Group, Inc.), takes us through his grooming routine and reveals what makes you sexy. Are you ready?

Tell us about your hair!

I get my hair cut in Cleveland, OH, at Center Court Barber Shop. My stylist Vanessa tapers it on the sides and in back. I also get my beard trimmed up around cheek so I have a really cool goatee.

What’s the key to finding a good barber?

A barber should take the time to make sure every client is satisfied. For my barber, Vanessa, she takes pride in what she does. It’s not about getting me in and out of the chair. She takes time to make sure I like what she’s doing.

What makes a Black woman beautiful?

Her smile—I’m big on smiles! Also, an inviting personality is nice. When she comes up to me and says, “Hey, how you doing?” It’s such a breath of fresh air!

Describe the vibe of your CD Truth of the Matter…

The vibe of Truth of the Matter is kind of retro. It’s new but yet there’s a familiar sound. And the single “Can’t Forget” is a love tale. You learn that love doesn’t always end the way you want but you forever grateful for what you learned from the relationship—you can’t forget about the person!
